Art History Week

Tell us a bit about yourself and your style of Art!
:iconnacura-g:

I'm Nacura-G, a 16 year-old french girl. In my free time I usually draw in Manga style, because I fell in love with that kind of Art when I was a little girl. I draw lots of original art because I'm more into emotional or "psychological" drawings, and because I don't really know how to do that with existant characters, I don't draw fanart often. I feel like people these days tend to be really pessimist in their view of other people, so I try to draw my own characters, the nicest and the worst, showing their feelings and trying to make them look as human as everybody.

What first interested you to Art and what made you start to take it more seriously?
:iconnacura-g:

I started to draw when I was a little girl. At first it really was to kill time, to have fun... I guess it was a way to create and I loved to create things and characters. It has been just these "usual drawings you do when you're young" at first and these "usual pictures you see on the internet and you want to copy them".
And it's quite hard to know when I started to take it more seriously. I would say it was when I started to have friends, mainly on Facebook, who shared that same passion with art; some of them wanted to publish their own story, Mangas, art book, etc. and seeing these people doing their best makes me want to do the same as well, and maybe earn money thanks to that.

How much do you think that the roots and origins of Art affect what we create today?
:iconnacura-g:

It seems logic to me that it affected today's Art a lot!... I mean, Art passed through a lot of periods, eras, and never ceased to "evolve", this is why Art is like this today.

All of us artists experience the so called "Art block" once in a while. What do you do to find inspiration when you need it?
:iconnacura-g:

I search for my inspiration in my sadness I guess, but when I'm having an art block I can easily get mad if I can't even sketch something, so I usually lie on my bed. My big brother told me I should take this time to go outside, watch movies or series to get more inspired. I think it's a good way to go, but I don't always try it.

What do you consider the most iconic artwork of all time?
:iconnacura-g:

I would say all artworks drawn by Alphonse Mucha... Because even now his works are an inspiration for people, and there really is something about his style I really love, maybe because in his century it was something new and unique, and even now.

How did you discover DeviantArt? What made you stay?
:iconnacura-g:

I discovered DA a long time ago, since 2010 I think. I knew an artist and was really inspired by her work, and I discovered she was on DA. When I had a graphic tablet I started to post my drawings in an old account, but since nobody saw my drawings I deactivated my account and left DA for a year. I only created a new one to post my Naruto fanart, but I think I stayed because more people were able to see my drawings than before and it makes me more confident about it.
