Congratulations to Magical525 for receiving seniority on December 31st, 2013!
What's it like to be a part of the senior hut? How do you feel about receiving the Medal? How did you receive the news? It's a bit strange to be a senior member. It is like being the new girl at a new school. I feel a bit stunned/shocked actually. To be a senior was the last thing I expected to become, all I was doing was pottering around doing what I enjoy doing, as and when I was physically up to it.
I received the news from Astralseed. She left me an IM on skype saying "Congrats hon!" and I said "congrats?"
While waiting for a reply I headed over to check my message centre in deviantART and saw the mentions and comments. The next thing I said to her was "Magical 's jaw drops", which is a pretty accurate description as to what happened.
I saw on your profile that you are involved in many community activities!I like to help other deviants! It makes me very happy!
What do you like about community acitivities? How did you get involved? Any tips how other deviants can get involved?
I got involved in ProjectPorkchop, SATW-FanClub and Sewing-Central as they needed help and I put my hand up, at stitchingpirates I had an idea to do a year round project and they liked it so much that I was added to the team. Last year Halloween-HQ was asking for people to help with the game and I had so much fun that I wanted to help out again this year. CRCommunityProjects was accidental - when I saw it shortly after the group was started, I commented on the profile what I good idea I thought it was and next thing I knew I was invited to join, I wasn't sure if I could help at all but I decided to give it a go and I've found that I can do things to help out after all
I've helped more groups over time but I found I was stretched too thin and with my heath issues I need to be careful to avoid that so I had to cut back earlier this year.
My tips for other deviants to get more involved to the community are:
- Fav and comment on positive community projects and feature journals so that they end up at the top of the journal portal list to help them get more exposure.
- Make your own feature journals showing other people art , especially those who could use some more watchers.
- Join groups like projecteducate or ArtHistoryProject as admin and help them by writing articles when they need them.
- Watch or join fella, CRCommunityProjects, DevNews, communityrelations as member and keep up to speed with what's going on and some of them will post when they or other groups need help.
There are many more things you can do but overall be polite and friendly, even when you have to say something that's not so nice or are in a bad mood - a kind word at the right time can make someone's day.
Do you have any future project ideas being planned that we can look forward to?Not right now unfortunately. I've been trying to do some more quilt tutorials or patterns but health has gotten in the way of me doing much more than just start.
That´s sad to hear. Get well soon! Any last words you would like to share with other deviants?Yes, I'd like to thank whoever suggested me for suggesting me and the staff for approving the suggestion I'm not really sure what else to say other than: be yourself, treat others the way you want to be treated and walk away from the computer if you start to get overly annoyed/upset about something and go vent by creating something beautiful
